Red's upcoming album, Of Beauty and Rage, is on track to be a great departure from Release the Panic, the band's 2013 release produced by Howard Benson. Of Beauty and Rage is produced by Rob Graves, who produced all of the band's albums prior to their previous one. The return to Rob Graves has already proven to be a great one. The band released two brand new songs from the album today: "Darkest Part" and the lead single, "Yours Again." The tracks bring back the Red that fans feared was slipping away. Red captures the essence of beauty and rage perfectly on "Darkest Part" as the song transitions from haunting, gentle verses to a powerful, raging chorus. Dark yet redeeming lyrics, strings, and longer durations are what we missed about Red, and these two tracks return them. While the album has already made a name for itself, both tracks draw resemblance to End of Silence and Innocence and Instinct. Dan Johnson fills in on drums after longtime member Joe Rickard left the band early last year. Johnson shatters any doubts Red fans may have had about the quality of drums on this record. The rest of the album will be reviewed closer to its release on February 24, but as for now, the two tracks released receive a perfect score. Red is back, and by back, fans of the band will know exactly what I mean.
